Elections of the Head of the Student Council at USUST
A significant event for student self-government took place at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies – the elections for the Head of the Student Council. This event traditionally serves as a key element in the democratic governance of student life at our university.
This year, the elections were held online, with around 100 delegates representing all the scientific and educational institutes of the university participating in the conference. The sole candidate for the position was Veli Bekirov, a student from the Scientific and Educational Institute of “Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture.” With unanimous support from the delegates, his candidacy was approved, and he now leads the Student Council of USUST.
The newly elected Head of the Student Council noted:
We have repeatedly refined our development directions during discussions. All of them were outlined in my presentation beforehand. I divided them into five sections: social media, student events, social support, career guidance, and documentation management within the institute student councils. The focus for each direction is the real interests and needs of students
Before the elections, a series of brainstorming sessions were conducted among the activists of the institute student councils. This allowed the discussion of pressing issues and the formation of a shared vision for new approaches in their work. During the conference, the delegates not only supported the new Head’s candidacy but also adopted a new regulation governing the Student Council’s activities.
We sincerely congratulate Veli Bekirov on his election as the Head of the Student Council at USUST! We wish him success in implementing his plans and fruitful work for the entire Student Council!
