EffectFact Project under the Horizon 2020 Program
On January 28, 2025, the international scientific and practical conference “Mathematical Modelling and Experimental Studies of Civil and Mechanical Engineering Problems” took place. The event was held as part of the dissemination of results from the international project under the Horizon 2020 program, “Effective Factorisation Techniques for Matrix-Functions: Developing Theory, Numerical Methods, and Impactful Applications.” Scientists from the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Slovakia participated in the conference, including representatives from the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
The conference was opened with welcome speeches by:
- the project coordinator, Gennady MISHURIS (Professor at Aberystwyth University, United Kingdom);
- Igor ISTENES (Director of the engineering and construction company ROEZ R&D, Slovakia);
- and Vladyslav DANISHEVSKYI (Professor, Director of the SEI “Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture”).
Plenary lectures were delivered by leading experts:
- Ihor ISTENES — on non-standard engineering solutions in the installation of a 220-ton vacuum distillation column;
- Milan SYVYI — on the impact of vibrations on the sealing of flange joints;
- Maryna BABENKO — on the use of agricultural waste to create bio-positive thermal insulation materials;
- Vladyslav DANISHEVSKYI — on optimizing seismic protection systems for high-rise buildings;
- Denys VOLCHOK — on optimal truss design under uncertainty conditions;
- Zoia ZHURAVLOVA — on torsion of multilayer cylinders with various interlayer contact conditions;
- Oleksii KARASOV — on numerical modeling of stability problems in conical shells with imperfect geometric shapes.
The Young Scientists section featured presentations on the following topics:
- design, operation, and modeling of building structures;
- the use of drones and artificial intelligence for building inspections;
- optimization of foundation slabs for energy-efficient construction;
- application of 3D printing technologies in construction;
- research on the impact of mineral oils on the mechanical properties of heavy concretes.
The conference became an important platform for international scientific collaboration and the exchange of cutting-edge ideas. We express our gratitude to all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions to the development of construction science.
