Doctoral dissertation defense on Residential Energy Efficiency held at USUST

On April 17, 2026, the defense of the doctoral dissertation by Vitalii Spyrydonenkov took place at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, at the SEI ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’.
 
The dissertation ‘Ensuring Comfort Parameters and Energy Efficiency of Residential Buildings’ was submitted for the degree of Doctor of Technical Sciences in specialty 05.23.01 – Building structures, buildings and facilities.
 
The research was reviewed by specialized academic council D 08.084.08, including leading scholars from the university and specialized higher education institutions across Ukraine.
 
The academic supervisor was Mykola Savytskyi, Vice-Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Doctor of Technical Sciences, and Professor of the Department of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures at the SEI ‘PSACEA’.

The official reviewers were Serhii Slobodianiuk, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, head of the Department of Structural and Theoretical Mechanics and Strength of Materials, and Yevhen Yurchenko, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Reinforced Concrete and Masonry Structures at the SEI ‘PSACEA’.

The official opponents were Hennadii Fareniuk, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, director of the SE ‘Research Institute of Building Structures’, and Olena Filonenko, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor of the Department of Construction and Civil Engineering at the National University ‘Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava Polytechnic’.
 
In his research, the candidate proposed a comprehensive approach to ensuring comfort and energy efficiency in residential buildings, integrating modern engineering solutions and smart technologies. The study combines the regulation of indoor microclimate parameters with enhanced energy efficiency based on renewable energy sources and intelligent control systems.
 
Vitalii Spyrydonenkov successfully bridges academic research with practice, since he works as a business development director at ‘Energy Status Estate’ LLC (Uzhhorod). The practical significance of the dissertation lies in the potential application of the developed methodologies in the design of low-rise residential buildings, contributing to improved energy performance and higher levels of comfort.
