Day of Educators of Ukraine 2024
The professional International Education Workers’ Day was established by UNESCO in 1994. “In Ukraine, Education Workers’ Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of October according to the Presidential Decree of September 11, 1994,” informs the official web portal of Ukraine’s executive authorities. In 2024, Education Workers’ Day, or Educators’ Day, falls on October 6.
The Rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi, congratulated all his colleagues on their professional holiday:
Dear colleagues, educators!
Today we celebrate Educators’ Day of Ukraine—a holiday that unites all those who tirelessly work for the benefit of education and science. Today is the day when we especially feel our importance and necessity in this world. Today, we receive congratulations from those into whom we have poured our knowledge, worldviews, and souls for years.
Your dedication, patience, and creativity make an enormous contribution to the development of our country. Thanks to you, our students and lyceum students acquire knowledge that opens doors to new opportunities in their own lives and in the world.
The role of engineering education is particularly important in today’s world. During these challenging times for our country, engineers are the driving force of innovations and technologies that can change our lives for the better, bring us closer to the time of Victory and Peace, and help rebuild the country. The competitiveness of our education determines the future of our country, and you, dear colleagues from each of our six universities and five professional colleges, are the foundation and creators of this future success.
I urge each of you to continue your important work, despite the difficulties we face in times of war. Let your strength, endurance, and determination serve as an example for our students. Hold on to our goal and mission—shaping educated, talented, and responsible citizens who will be able to overcome any challenges.
On this festive day, I wish you all, and each of you individually, health, inspiration, and new achievements. May our drive for knowledge, development, and innovation help Ukraine become even stronger and more successful.
