Connecting Generations Through History and Tradition
On October 17-18, leaders of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies and deans of major faculties, led by Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi, conducted a working tour of the museums of all five universities that make up the institution. The purpose of the event was to acquaint participants with each institute’s history and promote the cultural heritage of these educational institutions.
Each museum is a historical gem worthy of a prominent place in the country’s educational network. What stories do the exhibits tell?
Maryna Demidko, Acting Director of the SEI USUCT History Museum, shared, “We showed visitors the main exhibits, such as the ‘USUCT Book of Memory’ and ‘Pedagogical Dynasties,’ which reflect the institution’s history from its founding in 1930 to the present day.” She highlighted the importance of preserving history for future generations.
The DIIT History Museum also attracted interest. Valentyna Pakhomova, responsible for the museum, said, “Our museum, the ‘Svitlytsia,’ symbolizes the triad of generations: home-family-goodness. It is a place where the present meets the past and future, offering positive emotions and a deep understanding of history.”
Maryna Radul, lead librarian and voluntary guide at the National Museum of Dnipro NMetAU History, emphasized the museum’s significance for the region: “Our museum houses 3,965 exhibits, showcasing the development of the mining and metallurgical industry, which has played a pivotal role in Ukraine’s industrial growth and has been especially important for Prydniprovia.”
The National Museum of the History of Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (PSACEA) was the final stop of the tour. Museum Director Olena Hychka highlighted, “Our museum presents the academy’s history since 1930 and features notable figures who made significant contributions to the construction sector, such as professors Budanov M.O., Harmash O.A., and architect Petrov O.B.. We also share recent achievements, including partnerships with international organizations and participation in ‘green’ building projects.”

“To preserve our historical heritage, it’s time for the newly united university to establish a Museum of Technology and Science to showcase advancements in construction, transport, metallurgy, and chemistry that brought revolutionary changes to industry and were pioneered by scientists from our combined institutions.”
The event emphasized the importance of museums as cultural centers that support student growth, preserve our heritage, and foster continued development.
