Christmas and New Year Atmosphere at USUST

On the eve of the Christmas and New Year holidays, a series of warm and meaningful events took place at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, bringing together students, academic staff, pupils, and university guests. At various educational and scientific institutes, the celebrations were of unique character, however, all events were united by a shared atmosphere of unity, respect for Ukrainian traditions, and a desire to support each other.

On 4 December 2025, the pre-holiday spirit at the SEI  ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’ was traditionally created by the New Year concert and fair, held in the lobby of the main building. The faculties prepared fair stalls featuring homemade pastries, sweets, and creative handmade items. Students enthusiastically joined the initiative, knowing that every purchase served a charitable purpose. Each contribution made at the fair helped support the preparation of festive gifts for children.
 
The concert program created the warm atmosphere of the event. Vocal and dance performances, a moment of gratitude to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and sincere words of support from the institute’s leadership fostered a strong sense of unity and mutual support. The celebration concluded with symbolic New Year gifts presented to student leaders as a token of appreciation for their initiative, dedication, and active involvement.

On 11 December 2025, another warm pre-Christmas highlight was the intimate gathering  ‘When Cristmas is Approaching’  “When Christmas is Approaching”, held at the Art Space of the SEI ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’. In a relaxed atmosphere, students and faculty shared family memories, reflected on winter traditions, and discussed the feelings commonly associated with Christmas. The creative part of the meeting involved the joint creation of a Christmas star – a symbol of light, hope, and renewal. Over tea and heartfelt conversations, participants remained together long after the formal part of the event, continuing their interaction in a friendly circle. The gathering became a kind of space for psychological relief, where it was important not to rush and simply be present with one another.

On 18 December 2025, the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’ became a center of Christmas traditions during the cultural and artistic event ‘The Source of Christmas’. The event brought together students, pupils of the Scientific Lyceum of Digital Technologies and Design, faculty members, and guests, who jointly immersed themselves in the world of Ukrainian Christmas traditions. The combination of traditional Christmas carols and shchedrivky, interactive quizzes, creative contests, and musical performances created the atmosphere of authentic Christmas evening gatherings.
 
Despite the interruptions caused by air raid alerts, the event took place in a warm and sincere atmosphere. The audience was particularly moved by the participants’ creative performances, including vocal and instrumental pieces.

The hosts, students of the Faculty of Economics, maintained a lively dialogue with the audience, while poetic readings and words of support for Ukraine became an important emotional conclusion to the event.

The festive events of December at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies once again demonstrated that the university is not only a place for learning and research, but also a community that preserves traditions, supports one another, and finds strength for joy even in these challenging times.
