Ceremonial events at USUST dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine

Patriotic events dedicated to the Day of Defenders of Ukraine were held at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies. The university community paid tribute to the heroes who gave their lives for freedom, expressed gratitude to soldiers and volunteers, and took part in charitable initiatives.

Teaching staff, students, and the university administration gathered at the scientific library of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies to express their gratitude to soldiers and volunteers and to honor the fallen heroes with a moment of silence. The participants read poems and shared reflections on the power of courage and patriotism. A particularly significant moment of the event was the meeting with representatives of the ‘Obereg’ Volunteer Movement Charitable Foundation and with the cadets and an officer of the Department of Military Training of the State Transport Special Service.

Over the past few months, the University Library has been running a charitable initiative – collecting old books for recycling. The funds raised were donated to support the ‘Obereg’ Volunteer Movement Charitable Foundation.

On October 1, at the SEI ‘Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technology’ of USUST,  the participants honored the memory of students, alumni, and staff who gave their lives for Ukraine’s freedom. The event featured deeply moving moments – speeches by the families of fallen heroes and artistic performances, including the dance composition ‘Cranes’ by the Euphoria dance group and an original poem by student Anastasiia Fitkovska.

During the ceremony, the Heroes of USUST were remembered by name – those whose lives became symbols of courage and self-sacrifice. After the official part the participants laid flowers at the Memorial of Remembrance, unveiled two years ago at the SEI ’USUCT’.

The ceremony was followed by a charity fair, where students offered homemade pastries, craft products, and handmade items, and collected warm clothes and donations for Ukrainian soldiers.
All the funds raised and collected aid will be delivered to students and alumni currently serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
