Celebrations at USUST on the Day of the State Special Transport Service

On February 5, 2025, the Department of Military Training for Specialists of the State Special Transport Service at the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies (USUST) hosted a ceremonial event dedicated to the Day of the State Special Transport Service.

The event was attended by USUST Rector, Professor Kostiantyn SukhyiFirst Vice-Rector, Professor Anatolii Radkevychrepresentative of the department’s veterans’ council, Professor Mykhailo Lisniak, as well as vice-rectors, directors of scientific and educational institutes, and deans of faculties.

The Head of the Department, Colonel Ihor Ostapenko, opened the ceremony with a moment of silence in memory of the defenders who gave their lives for Ukraine. In his speech, he reflected on the history, development, and key missions of the State Special Transport Service, both in peacetime and wartime. He placed special emphasis on the training of specialists at the military training department and their role in the country’s recovery:

“Graduates of the department, serving in the units of the State Special Transport Service, stand with dignity in defense of Ukraine’s sovereignty, participate in demining operations, restore infrastructure, protect and defend strategic facilities, and diligently fulfill their service duties,” noted Ihor Ostapenko.

USUST Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi, in his welcoming speech, emphasized the significance of the military profession and the responsibility placed on cadets during their training:

“It is crucial that you dedicate yourselves fully to your studies. The contribution you are making is of immense importance!”

The First Vice-Rector Anatolii Radkevych and veterans’ council representative Mykhailo Lisniak also extended their congratulations, wishing the department’s personnel strength and success in their service.

For their high professionalism, responsibility, and conscientious service, military personnel of the department received honorary awards from the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and the Administration of the State Special Transport Service.

The festive atmosphere was further enriched by musical performances from the Dnipropetrovsk Professional College of Arts and Culture.
