Autumn Environment Day at USUST

The Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies upholds an environmental tradition – “USUST Environment Day”, which unites the university community around issues of nature conservation and campus care.

Continuing this tradition, on the 24th of October 2024, the university held an autumn campus clean-up at the Ukrainian State Chemical Technology University, a Scientific and Educational Institute. The event brought together students from various faculties, university administration led by Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi, and Director of the SEI of USUCT, Olha Sverdlikovska. All participants contributed efforts to make the campus cleaner, emphasizing the importance of developing eco-friendly habits even in challenging times.

On Friday, October 25, 2024, the staff and students of the educational and scientific institute “Dnieper State Academy of Construction and Architecture” also joined together in the ecological tradition of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology. About 80 teachers, employees and students took part in the large-scale cleaning of the academy’s territory. They joined forces to clean up the surrounding area, tidy up the grove near the central entrance and the square near the historic temple in the courtyard.

A pleasant surprise for the participants of the current autumn toloka was a real soldier’s porridge prepared by the field kitchen. This symbolic gesture, which noticeably lifted the spirits of all present, was organized by the employees of the military department of the university and the commanders of the subordinate military unit, which added a special symbolism of community unity to the event.

The initiative to hold the “Environment Day of USUNT” was supported and participated by members of the student council, deans, heads of departments of the academy, vice-rector Galyna Yevseeva and assistant to the rector of the university Maxim Babenko, director of NNI PDABA < strong>Vladislav Danishevsky, showing an example of a responsible attitude towards the environment. Planted even before the war and a mature grove near the central entrance has become a symbol of hope, and the steps taken to restore the historic Orthodox church emphasize the common desire and willingness to act for the preservation of nature and cultural heritage.
