August Meeting of USUST Educators
The August meeting for educators is always more than just a gathering at the beginning of a new academic year, it is also a time to reflect on achievements and set new goals. On August 29, 2025, the grand hall of the Palace of Culture of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies could barely accommodate all the participants. The traditional meeting brought together the university’s academic and teaching staff, representatives of partner institutions, numerous guests, and stakeholders.
The Rector of USUST, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Kostiantyn Sukhyi addressed the audience with his welcome speech. He emphasized the importance of the synergy achieved through the unification of universities and the significance of joint efforts for a successful start to the 2025/2026 academic year.
In his report “University Achievements in the 2024/2025 Academic Year and Priorities for the New Academic Year”, the Rector presented the university’s key accomplishments and his strategic vision for its development. In particular, he noted that within three years, USUST has significantly advanced in both national and international rankings and in 2025 holds 9th place among the 200 best technical universities of Ukraine and 1st place in the region according to scientometric indicators of the Scopus database and efficiency of participation in research activities.
Presentations on the university’s key areas of activity were also delivered by:
- Anatolii Radkevych, First Vice-Rector – “Educational Activities 2024–2025”;
- Olha Ryzhova, Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs, Advertising, Information Activities and Communications – “Admissions Campaign 2025: Achievements, Challenges and Prospects”;
- Oleksandr Kharlan, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of SEI ‘PSACEA’ – “On the Issue of Revitalization of the Object-Spatial Environment of the USUST Complex”;
- Anastasiia Borysenko, Acting Chair of the Student Council – “Student Council in Action: Implemented Projects and Activities”.
The event was attended by the distinguished guests – representatives of the city authorities, science, and industry, including:
- Serhii Taranenko, General Director of JSC Dnipropetrovsk Switch Plant, Chairman of the USUST Supervisory Board;
- Valerii Kriachko, First Deputy Director for Economics and Finance of JSC Dnipropetrovsk Switch Plant;
- Serhii Voit, General Director of SE Pivdenmash Machine-Building Plant named after Makarov;
- Mykhailo Bondar, First Deputy General Director, Chief Engineer of SE Yuzhnoye State Design Office named after Yangel;
- Ruslan Ponomarenko, Director of Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant;
- Volodymyr Kononov, Head of PJSC Agricultural Production Enterprise “Sodruzhestvo”;
- Anatolii Bulat, Head of the Prydniprovskiy Scientific Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, Academician of NAS of Ukraine;
- Oleh Tupytsia, Head of the Coordination Council on Higher Education under the Mayor of Dnipro;
- Maryna Balytska, Deputy Director of the Dnipro Branch of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Employment Center;
- Archpriest Vitalii Lopushanskyi, Chancellor of the Dnipro Diocese of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
A special highlight of the event was the conferral of the title of Honorary Professor of USUST to Serhii Taranenko, General Director of JSC Dnipropetrovsk Switch Plant and Chairman of the University’s Supervisory Board. The Rector solemnly awarded him the certificate and the professor’s gown, emphasizing his significant contribution to the development of the university and its partnership with industry.
All the distinguished guests received a symbolic gift – a polo shirt signed by the Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh, who recently enrolled in the Master’s program at USUST. It is a sign of the aspiration to reach new heights and shared achievements.
The speeches of guests, representatives of the clergy, and stakeholders were united by a common message: the future of the country is being built through cooperation between education, science, and industry. Extensive work for the university is ahead: the development of academic programs, strengthening of human resources capacity, research, and the implementation of international projects and grants.
This meeting became a powerful start to the new academic year, which promises to be rich in scientific, educational, and cultural events.
