20th International Conference dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (PSACEA)

On 20–21 October 2025, the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’ of USUST hosted the 20th International Scientific and Practical Conference ‘Innovative technologies in construction, civil engineering, and architecture’, dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Academy. The event brought together over 200 researchers from Ukraine and abroad.
 
The conference was opened by Professor Vladyslav Danishevskyi, director of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’, Doctor of Technical Sciences, who welcomed the participants on the occasion of the anniversary and wished them further scientific achievements and a peaceful recovery of the country.
 
The participants were welcomed by:
  • Oleksandr Zaichuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs of USUST, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, emphasised the important role of engineering education in the post-war recovery of Ukraine.
  • Mykola Savytskyi, Vice-Rector for Research and Academic Affairs, International Activities and Innovation Development, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, emphasised the Academy’s contribution to strengthening the national defence capability.
  • Ivan Kulichenko, Candidate of Technical SciencesMayor of Dnipro (2000–2014)Member of the Parliament of Ukraine of the 8th Convocationexpressed the idea of involving the Academy in developing a reconstruction project for the square near the Dnipro Railway Station.
  • Mykhailo Alipov, chairman of the board of the Dnipropetrovsk regional organization of the National Union of Architects of Ukraine, highlighted the contribution of the Academy’s graduates and scholars to the development of the region.
  • Maria Barabash, director of LIRA-SAPR LLC, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, drew attention how the academic community is  open to modern trends in design and engineering.
  • Ivan Perehinets, Vice President of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine, Candidate of Technical Sciences, Professor, emphasised the importance of PSACEA’s scientific schools and the development of energy efficiency in construction.

During the plenary session, presentations were delivered covering a wide range of current issues in modern construction and architecture. Among them were Oleksandr Kharlan’s report ‘95 Years of the Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’; a presentation by Pablo Barrachina (Spain) on the implementation of digital twins in the energy sector; and talks by Maryna Babenko and Anton Smyrnov (USUST) about the international projects ENERGENIUS and SEEDS.

Special attention was given to the issues of Ukraine’s reconstruction, environmental safety, and digitalisation of cities. During the sectional presentations, the participants discussed topics such as energy efficiency (Vadym Lytvyn, National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine), inclusive urban spaces (Olha Havryk, Poltava Polytechnic), technogenic safety (Serhii Kocheharov, USUST), and architectural revitalisation (Kateryna Kharchenko, USUST).
 
Over the course of two days, 110 presentations were delivered in seven thematic sections:
 
• Construction and Restoration Technologies;
• Information Technologies and Mechanical Engineering;
• Architecture;
• Energy Saving;
• Technogenic Safety;
• Economic and Humanitarian Sciences;
• International Erasmus CBHE Project ‘The BRIDGE’.

As part of the conference, 36 academic and research staff members who made a significant contribution to the development of the Academy received Certificates of Appreciation from the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
The professors Halyna Yevsieieva, Vladyslav Danishevskyi, Yuliia Orlovska, Anatolii Petrenko, Mykola Savytskyi, and Oleksandr Kharlan were awarded with the honorary diplomas of the Academy of Construction of Ukraine

This conference became an important event for the scientific community and proved that the Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture (PSACEA) as part of USUST  remains a powerful centre of engineering education, shaping a new generation of professionals who can rebuild Ukraine and create its future.
