USUST held the fourth training of the Grant Writing School
On 2 December 2025, the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies hosted the fourth training session of the Grant Writing School. The event was organized by the team of the National Contact Point “Climate, Energy and Mobility” at USUST with the support of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine and the National Research Foundation of Ukraine.
The training focused on ‘Preparing and Submitting Project Proposals for Participation in Horizon Europe Calls’.
The event brought together more than 70 researchers, lecturers, PhD students, project administrators and specialists interested in preparing competitive proposals for Horizon Europe calls. The meeting was held in a blended format, with participants joining both in person and online via Zoom.
The audience was welcomed by Vladyslav Danishevskiy, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, director of the SEI ‘Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture’, and Head of the National Contact Point. He emphasized the important role of Ukrainian universities in international scientific projects and research competitions.
During the training, the speakers highlighted essential aspects, tools, and practical recommendations for successful participation in Horizon Europe programmes:
- Kateryna Sokolova, Associate Professor and deputy head of the International Relations Office, provided an overview of the structure of a Horizon Europe proposal, outlining key requirements and the logic behind its preparation.
- Olha Kurykina, PhD in Economics, chief specialist of the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine at the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, focused on financial planning — common mistakes, practical recommendations, and rules for forming a project budget.
- Anna Serdinova, PhD in Economics, senior specialist of the Center for International Education and Cooperation, EIT Trainee, highlighted the role of effective communication in the successful implementation of international projects.
- Denys Volchok, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor, head of the Department of Machinery Operation and Maintenance, presented successful experience of USUST within Horizon Europe and opportunities for accessing research infrastructures of EU countries.
The training concluded with a Q&A session, during which participants received expert advice from the speakers.
The participants could gain valuable knowledge and practical tools for engaging in European research initiatives, expand their professional networks, and exchange best practices.
