Greeting from the Rector of USUST on International Students’ Day 2025
Every year on November 17, Ukraine and the whole world celebrate International Students’ Day – a holiday of youth, freedom of thought, and inexhaustible energy. This date carries deep symbolic meaning: it was established in honor of the student resistance movement that stood up against the Nazi occupation in Czechoslovakia in 1939. Since then, November 17 has become a day of solidarity for students around the world, a day of dignity, courage, and the pursuit of knowledge.
Today, Ukraine’s student community once again confirms these values. Despite the challenges of wartime, our students continue studying, growing, volunteering, developing academic and creative projects, and proving every day that the strength of youth lies in resilience, action, and responsibility.
On International Students’ Day, Kostiantyn Sukhyi, rector of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, addressed USUST students with sincere words of support.
Dear students,
With all my heart, I congratulate you on Students’ Day – a celebration of youth, search, dreams, and faith in a better future.
Today, being a student is both a real challenge and an act of courage. You are gaining knowledge at a time when each day tests your resilience, when even studying requires bravery. Yet you do not give up. You are the generation that chooses strength over fear, action over indifference, and the future over the past.
You strive to change the country, generate ideas, and take part in volunteer initiatives, technological start-ups, and scientific research. You are the ones who are already shaping a new Ukraine: intelligent, creative, and resilient.
A modern student is a person of action, knowledge, and heart. You know how to think critically, work as a team, and be innovative and responsible. It is people like you that our science, education, culture, and state rely on today.
Remember that you are both the future and the present!
May each day bring you confidence in your own abilities, new discoveries, and new victories.
