Webinar on the Erasmus+ Program

On May 16, 2024, as part of the international project “European Energy Efficiency on the Path to Strengthening Partnership with Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine” under the Erasmus+ program, a webinar was held with more than 70 participants from universities and enterprises in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine, Belgium, Italy, and Spain. Students, researchers, and practitioners had the opportunity to receive a brief contextual overview of the energy efficiency ecosystem in the Eastern Partnership countries.

The topic of the webinar is particularly relevant in the context of the military aggression of the Russian Federation and the destruction of the energy sector and critical infrastructure. Since Ukraine’s energy sector has become one of the primary targets of Russian attacks, the Ukrainian energy system must not only be restored but also appropriately reorganized. The actual loss of generating capacity is currently being compensated by the physical integration of the Ukrainian and European energy systems. The Ukrainian energy system is already part of the European system, and its further integration continues, increasing the physical capabilities for exporting and importing electricity to and from the European Union countries. The introduction and harmonization of European Union standards will ensure transparency and create investment opportunities for further recovery and development. The expected increase in the cost of electricity should be offset by ensuring the principles of energy efficiency, which will raise the level of competence of end consumers through such knowledge dissemination.

The ultimate goal of reorganizing the energy sector is the energy independence and security of the state. The ability to be self-sufficient, export energy resources, join the entire European transition to green energy, and guarantee a safe environment for future generations.
