Telebridge “Science Bridge: Science for the Future of Ukraine”

On May 21, 2024, on the initiative of the Council of Vice-Rectors for Scientific Work of Higher Education Institutions and with the support of the Kharkiv IT Cluster, a large-scale telebridge “Science Bridge: Science for the Future of Ukraine” took place. The event brought together over a hundred scientists, representatives of scientific and educational institutions from different parts of the country.

The aim of the telebridge was to discuss current issues of science development in Ukraine under present conditions and to determine strategic directions for its further establishment. Participants had the opportunity to share experiences, exchange ideas, and develop a common vision for the future of Ukrainian science.

Mykola Lukashuk, Chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, greeted the telebridge participants from scientists of the Dnipropetrovsk region. He noted that Dnipro is not only a humanitarian and military hub but also a powerful educational and scientific hub. Science is the foundation for Ukraine to be not just an agrarian country. Education is the future of our children, to build a strong and independent state.
Representing the platform of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies, Acting Rector Kostiantyn Sukhyi gave a welcoming speech: “USUST is a young university, created on the basis of 5 universities, but it has a 125-year history, and we are planning our future. War requires quick responses to challenges. We need a dialogue between government, education, and industry. We need to rebuild the country’s defense complex to confidently march towards Europe. We march towards Victory!”

Vladyslav Danishevskyi, Director of SEI PSACEA, also spoke on behalf of USUST. He thanked the organizers for the event and said that now is a unique chance for the country’s modernization. Therefore, it is crucial to unite scientific teams into a large scientific cluster.
During the telebridge, participants discussed a number of important issues, including:

  • The impact of war on the scientific sphere and ways of its recovery and development.
  • The role of science in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities.
  • Cooperation between science and business for innovation implementation.
  • Training personnel for the scientific sphere.
  • Integration of Ukrainian science into the global scientific space.

The telebridge participants came to a common conclusion that science plays a key role in the development of Ukraine and its future. To achieve success in this field, joint efforts of the government, scientific community, and business are necessary.

“Science Bridge: Science for the Future of Ukraine” became a platform for productive dialogue and exchange of experience. The event demonstrated the unity and determination of Ukrainian scientists to march towards victory and build a successful future for their country.
