History
The university combines the teams of five institutions of higher education in the city of Dnipro. The oldest of them, National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, traces its lineage back to 1899, when the Katerynoslav Higher Mining School was founded. This institution started the training of engineers for enterprises in the mining and metallurgical industries of southern Russia. The institutional formation of other institutions was ensured by scientific schools, the history of which dates back to the beginning of the 20th century.
Over the entire period of existence, our teams have trained more than 240,000 specialists for various branches of the economy: railway transport, metallurgy, chemical industry, construction and many other spheres of the national economy ofUkraine. Our specialists are in demand abroad.
Education and science have a decisive influence on the development of society and the state. Evidence of this is the significant contribution made by our teachers, scientists and students at such key stages of the country’s development as the creation of leading branches of heavy industry during the industrialization of the 1930s, the reconstruction of the industrial infrastructure of the Dnipro region and Ukraine in general after the Second World War, leadership Dnipropetrovsk Oblast inmany areas of national economic development in the 1960s-1980s.
We are sure that even now the team of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies is able to overcome the challenges of the time and make a significant contribution to the training of specialists for the reconstruction and large-scale modernization of Ukraine and its entry into the European community of democratic countries.

On March 31, 2021, Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №258-r “On the establishment of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies” (USUST) was adopted. The charter of the new university was approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on June 25, 2021 (order № 714), put into effect by the order of the rector of the university on July 2, 2021. On the same day, the rector of the university adopted order № 02 “On the establishment of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies”.
At this stage, the newly created university included the teams of the Dnipro National University of Railway Transport named after Academician V. Lazaryan and the National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine.
On July 11, 2023, Order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine № 620-r “On the reorganization of the state higher educational institution “Ukrainian State University of Chemical Technologies” and Prydniprovska State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture was adopted. Both higher education institutions became part of the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technologies.
Today, USUST is a powerful multi-sectoral institution of education and science both in the Dnipro region and in Ukraine in general.
